Towards a Digital Twin for Oil Spill Incidents

A presentation given by Iliad's Research and Technology Development (RTD) Manager, Prof. Georgios Sylaios of the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH). The video features Iliad’s pilot focusing on creating a digital twin of the ocean for early detection of oil spill incidents in at the Thracian Sea. Iliad researchers applied a sophisticated operational oil spill model to test the oil dispersive properties and to reveal the relative magnitude of weathering processes, after an accidental oil spill release along the main tanker transportation route in the North Aegean Sea.
